Hey all, it's your loseriffic friend Kello here with another audio review to cure even the worst case of insomnia. This time I take a very confused look at writer Reginald Hudlin's "Black Panther: Who is the Black Panther?" story arc.
Also, I put some awesome pictures of Klaw and the "brown jacket" Avengers I grew up with on there, so it's worth sticking around until the end. Hope you like it!

Black Widow: "Nope, we'll just wear our spandex UNDER the jackets! That way we'll be prepared for inclement weather!"

My thoughts exactly on this story, Kello. It's like Marvel told Hudlin that he had "free reign" over Black Panther but didn't explain that "free reign" didn't mean he was supposed to reinvent the origin as if it was taking place in the current Marvel universe. He really made a mess of continuity with that whole thing.
ReplyDeleteThat probably could have been forgiven if he'd been a better writer, but after this first arc he went from being sort of bland to writing with a weird sort of racist undertone to the book that I (and many others) found very off-putting. I'll be looking forward to your Secret Invasion review to see how well Aaron is able to distance himself from Hudlin.
I've never been a big fan of Reggie Hudlin, and this is as good a reason as any to continue not being one. I don't know what he was thinking, and like Marc said, his little bits of racism didn't help anything either. That dude is such a tool.
